As usual, speculations abound regarding the biggest exhibit at the city's biggest cake show, which opened here on Thursday. What would be the prime attraction this time?

This year, in the show's 37th edition, the honour goes to the Gol Gumbaz. The beautiful Bijapur monument has been crafted with sugar and spice and all things nice by 25 talented people who've been at it for months.

Measuring 16.5 ft long, 12 ft high and 16.5 ft wide, it took five tonnes of sugar to recreate it for public consumption.

“As Gol Gumbaz is the famous monument of Karnataka, we decided that it would be the biggest cake this year. It took 2,800 man hours to complete. We're expecting more than two lakh people for the exhibition,” said C. Ramachandra, Chairman of the Blue Hill Group.

Apart from this massive cake, there are others such as Namma Metro, an F1 car, the Titanic, a church, a castle, a fairy dollhouse as also several pretty and scrumptious cakes.

The entry fee is Rs. 45 per head. No charge for children below five years. The Blue Hill Group — the organisers — as usual, will hold a raffle and some lucky people will walk away with the prize cakes.

The exhibition, at St. Joseph's Indian High School grounds located at Kanteerava Stadium, is on till January 1.
