Finally Bangalore has a media body which now encompasses a huge
size of media and marketing professionals in the city. Bangalore,
home to nearly a dozen radio stations, over 50 television channels
and over 700 weeklies, dailies, fortnightlies, monthlies together,
has now got an organised body called the Media Association of Bangalore
(MAB) to take care of the media industry's interests.
The Media Association of Bangalore was launched on the 16 February
2004.
The formation of the MAB was a result of the instrumental efforts
of people like Joy George from BBC World, Suresh Silvia from Outlook,
Sampath Kumar ex-Statesman, and Pratap Kumar from PK Associates.
The formation of this institution seems to have met the long felt
need to bring the entire media and marketing fraternity under one
roof for the common benefits they share.
Currently the membership fee to MAB is Rs. 750 per year and it
has already roped in 200 professionals in just a couple of weeks.
