UTTERLY BUTTERLY DELICIOUS!
She is an all-time favorite Friday star who made the term
"Utterly Butterly" really delicious. The Amul girl
with her button-eyed, dimple-cheeks and mischievous smile
who stormed the nation way back in 1960s from strategically
placed hoardings, butter packs and magazines and introduced
the concept of butter on Indian breakfast tables.
Transforming
herself topically and making a statement each time, whether
about the Helmets being made compulsory in Mumbai, the Indian
Airline 'Namaste' cancellation, the ecstatic Sushmita Sen
on winning the Miss Universe crown, or the very recent, screening
of 'Devdas' at the Cannes Film Festival, or even as herself
dressed in her usual polka-dotted frock, always endorsing
her inseparable Amul butter pack. She epitomizes every happening
event, smiling mischievously and winking her way into people's
hearts. Her innovative, timely humor has won her a massive
fan following throughout the country so much so that the ads
are now ready to enter the Guinness Book of World Records
for being the longest running campaign ever.
What
really keeps the Amul magic still alive-n-kicking despite
so many years of presence is, its sheer innovative humor and
topicalness. 50 years after it was first launched, Amul's
sale figures have jumped from 1000 tonnes a year in 1966 to
over 25,000 tonnes a year in 1997. No other brand can boast
of such phenomenal growth. All thanks to this lovable Amul
girl whom everyone loves to love.
