media, and crowned with the prestigious Padma Shree. Her career
began with brewing, but now she brews a whole new niche for
the growing biotech industry in India. Bangalore born Kiran
Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon India,
has clearly iconified the Indian biotech industry on the biotech
map of the world.
Kiran completed her Graduation in Zoology at Bangalore University
and headed for Australia to do her post graduation in malting
and brewing. But destiny brewed a different stew for her.
Today Kiran devotes more than 10 hours a day furthering her
company and helping develop the Indian biotech industry globally.
She's the voice of the industry as she relentlessly convinces
Investors and Financers to liberally invest in the biotech
industry.
Kiran is also the chairperson of the vibrant Biotechnology
vision group in Bangalore. She leads a team of nearly 200
engineers and scientists. Today her company, Biocon, has nearly
70 patents and She's been successful to emphatically position
the power of the biotech industry in India.
