IDC survey on BPOs |
'Emerging BPO opportunities for India', a study conducted
by Assocham-IDC, projected the Indian BPO industry to reach
0.6 million by 2007. The growing realization of the BPO cost
advantage to corporate firms has been attributed as one of the
reasons for the projection. Employment in this sector is also
projected to grow at a 32 per cent rate from its current level
of 0.15 million.
The study also details about the growing demand for BPO services
in areas of functional importance like PR, sales, HR, administration.
Currently the BPO focus has been only data-entry back office
processing and customer servicing which is only a part of
a lot of other functions.
BPO focus on functional areas will definitely graduate the
BPO industry to its next level making it a hot spot industry
better than ever in the coming years.
