Kishore Rao spoke to bangalorebest.com about the company's international
customers and future strategies.
PTC India is an Indian subsidiary of the world renowned PTC.
How is your clientele spread?
PTC is a global company that targets international companies.
PTCI, being an Indian subsidiary, caters to the local market.
But our company also accommodates many other multinationals
based in India. Our main focus is on India.
Who are the customers for your software products Pro-Engineer,
Pro-Desktop and the like? Almost
six hundred customers are tied-up with us for our software.
Telco, Ashok Leyland, TAFE, Hero Motors, TVS-Suzuki, Bajaj and
Eicher are some of the major clients from the automotive industry.
Similarly, we have Videocon, BPL and a host of other players
who are in the field of consumer electronics. We have Larsen
and Toubro and other players in the industrial sector as well.
Any other new software in the pipeline?
At the moment we are concentrating on our existing products.
But we will make sure that these products do match the latest
technologies. We work to see that technical upgradations are
done once a year, or even more frequently as the need arises.
We keep our global expertise updated by simultaneously incorporating
the changes in each and every country we operate.
How is the company equipped with staff to meet the global demand?
We have over fifty persons engaged in sales and related activities.
Last year we added around twenty-eight personnel which contributed
to thirty per cent of the overall strength. We keep boosting
our strength with increase in our requirements. Besides that,
we have a strong team of technological experts.
What about PTC's alliance with Oracle and Anderson Consulting?
It's a global alliance and it is really doing well. It has been
a complementary affair as those companies are incorporating
our CAD/CAM knowledge. And at the same time, we are making use
of their software for our requirements.
How is the response to the Powermetric
Training Centres that PTCI has recently set up in association
with Dynamatic Technologies?
It has been doing well and the third batch of students will
be completing the course soon. Another centre is coming up at
Chennai in a couple of months. Dynamatic Technologies is running
the institutes and they have a lot of information related to
this.
How does the company maintain an edge over its competitors?
Right product at the right time is our service mantra. Our fifty-year-old
expertise enhances the quality of products, and quality products
keep our business at par. The existing clients contribute to
seventy per cent of our business. This makes us concentrate
more on quality. I strongly believe that quality of our products
is reflecting our revenue and growth.
Tell us about your R&D team. We have 250 personnel at our R&D centre located at Pune.
Pune's centre is the only research and development facility
that PTC has outside US. It is a global research centre and
works in coordination with PTC's four centres located at US.
Kishore Rao feels that the incorporation of CAD/CAM subjects
in the early stages of technical degree courses will open up
better job opportunities for students.
