for the Internet segment for the past year. Rakesh Mathur,
Ramana Venkata and Ramesh Subramonian founded the
company in September last year. Exactly one year later, the
company boasts of the launch of an innovative software 'Internet
Discovery System', the first of its kind in the world. Headquartered
in Mountain View, California, the company has its development
centre in Bangalore. Jyotirmoy Bose and Samanta Rai
D P head the company as Chief Operating Officer and Country

In spirituality, the human body is surrounded by certain charkas.
While the yellow chakra represents enlightenment, the purple
chakra indicates the zenith of enlightenment and that forms
the first part of our company name. Yogi conceptualizes
the guru in a different way, symbolizing the highest manifestation
of a wise man.

We at PY believe that doing things that have not been done before
can create history. And it is never easy to create history without
hard work. This hard work can be accomplished when one keeps
oneself fit through fun. We know that if we leave out any one
of those three, we cannot succeed.
The company staff…
We are twenty-two at present and will be expanding shortly.
We have four of the IIT toppers from across India working with
us. Our chief scientist was the research head at IBM and our
chief architect was the head of NASA research lab that built
the remote sensing space module.
The Bangalore centre focuses on…
We focus on knowledge management, it's a technology based on
information theory. We take up knowledge to classify into different
concepts. The knowledge what we're going to handle is from the
net, which is automatically classified, so that the right information
will go to the right person at the right time. For that, we've
built a software infrastructure. We've a large engineering staff
working on that and we will continue to grow with the team.
How is 'Purple Yogi Internet Discovery System' (PYIDS)
one-up over others?
PYIDS is designed for Internet users to enable them to browse
efficiently. This product understands the user's requirements
and makes available to them the information that they really
want. With PYIDS, we are shifting the Search paradigm to the
Discovery model.
How PYIDS works…
PYDIS takes up the URL of any page that the user is going through
with its privacy policies, and it sets up a frequency counter
to locate the exact topic of interest via word
mapping. Less frequent words fail to come out with other pages
carrying similar information. Our PYIDS has a 98 per cent success
in getting the right information.
Micro Soft's DotNet set against PYIDS...
DotNet is a set of six servers that enable the user to create
an Internet site for serving e-commerce. It helps transactions
but does not discover the information he needs. But PYIDS support
transactions in e-commerce through IDS. At present, the discovery
system gathers information for the net user, but in future it
will definitely help in e-transactions.
Meeting targets...
We believe in development through three stages. In the first
stage of being an Engineering Company, we've succeeded with
our intellectual team. We are now in the stage of being a marketing
company, selling the concept and technology to the market. The
third and final stage is of development by revenue generation.
We generate revenue from the enterprise world. Our PYDIS creates
the awareness for that enterprise world.
PY in relation to other networking companies…
Ours is a software infrastructure company. Though our company
is not a networking company, we provide infrastructure that
makes the network intelligent enough to understand the available
information.

most significant achievement has been the funding. In spite
of various market variations, our company could get a whopping
thirty-five million dollar funding. This actually reflects the
confidence that investors have in our technology and business
models. We've been successful in demonstrating our software
to customers from across the world. Now we have roped in many
international clients like Wall Street Journal and others. Within
this quarter, we are sure to have many other big players signed
up from various fields like portals, search engine spaces, financial
institutions and publishing houses.
The director duo don't believe in boss-ism. They provide
