RCC beam: Wrapped around the structure at plinth,
lintel and slab level, to tie all the walls together so that
the whole unit sways together.
Foundation: Deeper by 35% so the building behaves
like a cantilever projection coming out of the ground.
Reinforcement: Concrete X branching for masonary
structure for added strength.
Low height to floor ratio minimises tendency to
topple.
Keep floor height equal.
Make building shape symmetrical.
Shorter beams will be stronger. Divide long halls
into smaller units or reinforce long unsupported walls with
RCC columns or exterior butresses.
Large L-shaped buildings and U and T shaped buildings
should be seperated into rectangular blocks.
Structures built on solid rock and firm soil fare
better than buildings on soft or sandy ground.
