Detective agency (ED) has established itself as a leading detective

two decades. In December 1979, after serving the military (as
a sportsman) and another agency in the same field, Annaiah started

corporate security.
What changes have you witnessed over the years in the area
of security services?
First is the change in the social values. Deteriorating moral
values have resulted in more cases of theft and pilferage. Nowadays,
employers avoid employing their own private security guards
because of the latter's involvement in union activities. They
opt for private detective agencies.
What
other factors necessitate the services of detective agencies?
Once an entrepreneur goes in for the services of a private agency,
he can just forget about security issues as the agency takes
care of everything, including administrative aspects like payment
of the guard's salaries and other benefits. Agencies also take
up emergency cases like the outbreak of fires or even employee
strikes.
How do you recruit the guards?
Though we recruit persons who have completed the tenth standard,
we always look out for army candidates. They have the added
advantage of discipline coupled with the basic physique. Selected
candidates are given extensive training in the field they are
going to be placed. Once we're satisfied with their work and
reliability, we put them on duty.
What type of services does ED offer?
Our main focus is on industrial security and private investigation.

Who are your main clients and how long has your company been
associated with them?
We have been providing our services to Gokuldas Exports
since we started our operations two decades ago. Our other eminent
clients are United Breweries (UB Group) and Sonar
Holding.Krishnaiah Chetty & Sons and other clients
take our escorting services for transporting their valuables.
Our customer list crosses 250.·
In what way does ED stand apart from other agencies in the same
field?
We take assignments with a commitment to execute them professionally.
We provide our services with utmost dedication and the employees
of our organisation get all the benefits they deserve like Provident
Fund, ESI and gratuity. Customers can have access to our personnel
round the clock. Our office is open 24-hours of the day. We
keep our duty officer alert with a mobile phone and an assistant.
They are also provided with five landlines, besides vehicles
and pagers, so that they are equipped with everything in case
of an emergency.·
What have ED's major achievements been?
We have been successful in bringing to light several misdeeds
in association with the police department, with whom we have
a good rapport. For our services in the field, we were given
the prestigious 'Vijay Ratna' award in 1994.
Annaiah feels that a common man, who stays in remote areas,
should posses licensed arms for his personal safety. He also
suggests that persons who get frequent threats should report
it to the police department or a detective agency. When it comes
to the safety of children, he warns parents to employ only reliable
drivers, with whom their children travel to school.
