The title JAMES BRAND 007 aptly suits this adventurous
thirty plus gentleman. At a time when the brand-consulting concept
in India is restricted to mere advertising, Raghu B Vishwanath
has the courage to approach brand building from a wholly different
perspective. Raghu, a Chennai IIT-ian and also a post-graduate
from Calcutta IIM, visualizes brand building as an integral
concept of any business activity.
Soon after his post graduation, Raghu joined SmithKline Beecham
(SB) as a brand manager. During his three years of association
with SM, he launched Junior Horlicks and Horlicks biscuits.
Later he joined Titan as brand manager and pioneered
the Production availability management team. It was at
Titan that he realized his real potentials as brand manager
and this spurred him to acquire an in-depth knowledge about
brand building. After Titan, he joined MAA Bozell followed
by Equitor. Later on he quit Equitor to become a freelancer,
all the while on the look out for the right person to team up
with in building a company that would run on their common views.
It was in October 1999 when he shook hands with R Vasu,
another enterprising person on the same wavelength as Raghu.
Vasu, the managing partner of N Ranga Rao and sons (producers
of famous Cycle brand incense sticks) funded Raghu through Angel
Investors and asked him to run the 'brand business.' Then Raghu
zeroed in on Vertebrand, a complete solution provider
for brand queries. The company came into existence during the
early 2000, though its operations started from October 1999.

He undertakes projects with a commitment to provide a complete
business opportunity assessment with a three year business plan;
solutions for the existing problems of businesses; and helps
start-ups to reach stature in their field of operation. Though
he is not looking for short-term gains, more and more venture
capitalists are coming forward to offer funding. Along with
big players like Featherlite Products, Zed Infotech, IP Cell
Technologies, iNablers and other blue chip companies, Raghu
is expecting another set of clients from across the Indian cities.
And he is equipping himself with branch offices at Mumbai and
Delhi. It won't be a surprise if in the coming years international
players seek his consultancy, as he is planning to set-up his
office in the US as well. He welcomes every client with his
visiting card which has the bottom line - Vertebrand, YOUR BUSINESS
BACKBONE.
