The Location
The
ambience is lovely. The International School situated
on the Whitefield-Sarjapur Road, 20 kilometres from Bangalore,
rests amidst lush green open spaces away from the crowd
and clamour of the city. This "thoughtful school" is
"committed to academic excellence and all-round development."
The Founder
Bangalore has always felt the need for a school that prepares
students for University studies worldwide. Dr. K P Gopalkrishna,
the founder of the International School, with judicious
intuition has given us yet another world class educational institution
that will further the city's claim to being home to some of
the best educational institutions in the country.
The Motto - I think, therefore I can
Speaking about the motto of the school the former
principal, Mr John Macfarlane has this to say, "When I entered
Bangalore airport I was given a rose and a card. On this card
was written: 'Birds fly because they think they can'. This is
the origin of our school motto: 'I think, therefore I can'.
At the International School the students will feel so good
about themselves that they will fly, academically and personally,
to heights never dreamt possible."
Admission and Curriculum
The
school year is from August to June and students of all
nationalities and cultures are eligible for admission. The
Primary Grades (3-10 year olds) follow the Primary Years
Program of the International Baccalaureate organisation.
In the early secondary years (11-15 year olds) students
are prepared for the Cambridge International GCSE or Indian
CSE examinations in grade 10. The last two years of
school follow the IB Diploma course.
Facilities
The school caters to both day scholars and boarders. The
boarding facilities are comfortable with three students sharing
one room. Other state-of-the-art facilities include a 25,000
volume library, a computer room, well equipped science laboratories,
an art studio, drama and music rooms, audiovisual rooms, an
athletic track, a swimming pool, volleyball, tennis, squash
and badminton courts, billiards room, gymnasium, horse-riding,
bicycle track, roller blade rink.
And students will be required to:
Use computer technology to
promote their own learning.
Involve themselves
wholeheartedly in sports
Develop their creative talents.
Involve themselves in meaningful
social work.
Involve themselves in hobby clubs
and excursions.
Reach for the skies!
And the school will lead students to:
A world without horizons!
