C-MAC Centum Electronics Limited is a name synonymous with
the design and manufacture of high technology electronic component
in India. Set up in 1994 as Centum Electronics Ltd., the company
undertook the design and manufacture of Hybrid Micro Circuits
and Resistor Networks for telecommunications, power and automotive
electronics sectors.
Having rapidly become the market leader in India, Centum sought
to become a strong player in the global market. At the same
time, C-MAC Industries of Canada were looking for a presence
in India as a part of their global operations strategy. C-MAC
Centum Electronics was the result of the synergy between the
two organisations.
The symbiosis of Indian Entrepreneurship and technical skills
on one hand, and the strengths of C-MAC, a large multinational
corporation on the other, has imparted a unique leadership
position to C-MAC Centum Electronics. The modern production
facilities of the company have been established with an initial
investment of Rs 16 crore and an additional investment of
14 crore has been made in 2000 for 100% export-oriented unit
to manufacture Frequency Control Products. These critical
components are used in computers, communications, wireless,
aircrafts, satellites and so on.
Customers in India include ITI, HTL, Crompton Greaves, United
Telecom, ABB, BHEL, BEL, Tata Lucent to name a few. The company's
products are exported to the United States, Canada and Europe.
Nortel, British Telecom and BI Technologies are its reputed
customers.
The production and testing operations are carried out in clean
rooms of 100,000 and 10,000 class. All manufacturing processes
come under the purview of statistical process control at C-MAC
Centum, an ISO 9001 certified company. There are no supervisors
on the shop floor. The well-trained personnel work in a multi-task
environment making sure that a quality product is made and
delivered. At C-MAC Centum, advanced technology is supplemented
with the teamwork of the highly motivated work force.
