Owned by the RPG group, with Dashrath Raman as its CEO, Music World is one place in Bangalore that music lovers must visit. Store Head and Manager Ashok Nagarajan says, "It's a complete shopping experience that we provide, a touch and feel experience, and we also boast of the best range in the country in all genre."

Started in June 1999, Music World is an organized music retail chain with Compact Discs, accessories, VCD's, CD Roms and Cassettes. They have a huge collection of music of all types in almost all regional languages. Their clientele is a very mixed one, from school going kids to corporate houses. "Our The posh interiors of Music World.service is very customer friendly as all the tapes and CD's are arranged in alphabetical order and this allows customers to browse with ease," says a proud Ashok.

They have a unique 'Chart Busters' featuring the top 10 titles, which include International, Hindi-film, non-film and regional music rated according to their sales at the Music World on a weekly basis. Famous international and national personalities like Lou Bega, Shaan, Jagjit Singh and many more are frequent visitors to this store and have performed there too! Many local models like Vidisha Pavate, Music Director Hamsalekha, Actor Punith Rajkumar, many DJ's, choreographers and CEO's of many big companies come to shop here. Music World sources music from other companies and sells it to people.

ICustomers listening to their choice of CD's.s the CD market growing in India? " Of course, it is! We only keep genuine products and the actual sale ratio of CD's and Audio cassettes is 20%: 80 % as of now in India."

Has the private recording of songs affected the business of music stores? " No, not at all! We are too big to be affected to by such things. We as a brand are far superior to anybody else as we are a big chain. The Indian market is doing pretty well."

The hot favourite numbers as of now are 'Mohabbatein' in Hindi, 'Beatles' in English and 'Now That's What I Call Indi-Pop-Vol 2'. Music World has frequent discount sales. Periodic offers like shopping with a MasterCard for Rs 500 which fetches a gift voucher of Rs 50, a 5% discount on Citibank Suvidha card are the attractive offers of the place. Another new offer that starts from December 23, 2000, is the Lucky Draw, where customers can win prizes like a music system and other wonderful gifts!

Music World has 10 stores in 8 cities all over India and there are plans to expand further. "Always check for the company logo, MRP, the print and the inlay card before buying any cassette or CD. Also, store them in a dust free environment and handle them with care for a longer life," warns Ashok.

Music buffs need neither season nor reason to hoard CD's and Cassettes. But if you are looking for a reason, there couldn't be a better one than the attractive discounts offered by Music World. .
