His achievements

Seeing is believing!!! Yet it is unbelievable. Magician B.Puttraj who comes out with his "sleight of hand", was awarded the fastest Magician of Karnataka by the then chief minister Ramakrishna Hedge. Can anyone imagine riding on the busy M.G.Road in the peak hours of the day blindfolded, following the traffic rules, amazing isn't it! Well Puttraj, the Vice Dean of the Karnataka Foundation of Magic is a blindfold rider and he tells us that it's kid's stuff for him.

His specialisation

It is no joke to drive in the city especially during the peak hours in the morning and the in the evening but you must see to believe the confidence. He reveals that he calculates every move and listens to every sound very carefully while riding.

How much does he charge for his magic shows?

Puttraj says that his charges depends on the show he performs. For birthdays and get-togethers he charges around Rs 2000. For product launches he charges around Rs. 25,000-30,000/-. The speciality of this dynamic man is that the first call he gets in the morning for any show, he does it for free, because he thinks that is the way to serve the public and also for his publicity he says frankly.

To what extent is magic based in the Black Art?

There are a lot of people who misunderstand magic with black art. Magic is an art to relax our mind and there is no age bar to learn this art. There are people who practice black art like vodoo which has nothing to do with magic.

Is there any recognised academics to teach magic?

Yes there is a recognised academy called the Bangalore Magic Academy in Jayanagar.There is also the Karnataka Foundation of Magic in Mysore.

His future plans

Puttraj says that all of us dream and we strive to achieve our goals in our dreams and his dream is to go abroad and perform colourful shows which would cost me a fortune and he is hoping for someone to sponsor the whole show. "I hope my dream will turn into reality soon."

Is it true that if a person observes your performance twice or thrice he can guess the secret?

Yes it is true that people get a vauge idea about the trick but people will not be able to perform the same.

Can you brief us about the different kinds of Magic acds?

There are various kinds of magic, some of them are:

The Rainbow Dove Act - a fast paced show performed to music, using multicolored doves which appear, disappear, and even change color. This act leaves audiences spellbound.The length is ten minutes but can range from four to 20 minutes to suit the occasion.

Stage Show - A 15 to 45 minute show including some incredible illusions of magic, comedy and the participation of some audience members are the main highlights.

Close-Up Magic - Suitable for banquets, cocktail parties, hospitality suites, or television appearances.

Illusion Show - featuring large stage productions capable of being seen in large theaters and arenas.
