Subahu Desai , In-charge, Inter Gold, Bangalore, told bangalorebest.com that Inter-Gold is a joint venture of B Arun Kumar Group, leaders in diamond exports and Hammer and Sohne, the European leader in jewellery manufacturing. The B Arun Kumar Group still exports diamonds to countries like Japan. The export turnover of the company is estimated to reach Rs 1000 crores by this year end, Subahu Desai added.

Inter Gold was first opened in Mumbai in 1989. It has five stores in Mumbai alone since it is the head office as well. Other branches are situated in Goa, Surat, Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad. "By the end of this year we have planned to expand our chain of showrooms to 20 in the country," said Subahu Desai. Inter Gold Group has been the leading exporter of ornaments from India. Presently, the exports of Inter Gold are over $100 million. Inter Gold has won the Gem and Jewellery promotion Council's trophy for seven consecutive years.

At Inter Gold, at least 300 new designs are being added every month. Modern methods are used in the manufacture of the ornaments. They also have model making facilities in Hong Kong and Mumbai. It has two factories in Mumbai and Goa. The company is introducing CAD/CAM designing and rapid proto-typing processes for quick and precise model making.

The ornaments in multiple designs are displayed in crystal clear glass showcases in the Bangalore showroom. The "Spiritual range" section contains many designs on the Sri Krishna theme. Ornamental figurines of Ganesha are crafted very aesthetically. Figurines of other gods and goddesses are also available in plenty at the showroom.
