Some
men fascinate with a life long affair with creativity and passion;
they make dreams a reality. We spoke to one such scintillating photographer,
Sudhir Ramachandran, whose world class work takes him far and
wide. Want to know more, then read on.
His earliest forays into photography:
With his fiery thirst for photography, it comes as no great surprise
to know that his 'very first shot' earned him admiration and money.
His exotic and untamed heritage:
Africa, was the backdrop, that drew him to wildlife, nature, and landscape
photography. A legacy that is reflected in the spontaneity, patience
and timing of his pictures. Other influences include India, his visits
to European exhibitions; artists like Pete Turner and Ivan Penn.
The later years, honing his innate skills:
Travel - a rich repertoire of experiences, a deep love for his craft,
and his subjects, led to his making a distinctive mark in this remarkable
field.
Photography as a profession and a medium:
Photography like any other creative profession is demanding. It demands
hardwork, a belief in oneself, talent and nothing but the best.As
a medium it allows for metamorphosis of different ideas. The essence
of his work, is 'clarity in communication', 'subtleties of tones'
and a sufficient aura of mystery to give room for interpretation.
Diversity of genres and his favorites:
For the uninitiated, photography has a vast array of styles on offer,
like, 'Architecture, Sport, Wildlife, Fashion, Beauty, Nude, Nature
and Editorial
etc.' Genres that explore a melting pot of cultures inspire ' Sudhir
Ramanchandran'. He enjoys capturing tribals, nature, fashion and all
that has an undeniable link with people and life. His zeal in caring
for earth's bounteous gifts is all too evident in his work. He strongly
prefers color to B/W, for it exemplifies reality
Charting new territories:
He has embarked on exciting plans that include 3 books on the anvil,
one about 'Kerala', the other about 'Nilgiris' and the
third about the 'Celestials of the 20th century'.
Innovative technologies and its impact:
Commenting upon the criticism of modern technical wizardry, he says
that 'as
we learn to master the technicalities of art, we can fine tune our
talents'. Furthermore each and every medium aims at improving
and widening vistas of
imagination and expression.
Workplace hues:
Mr. Ramachandran' prizes rapport and instead of having a few favorite
models, he prefers to capture the nuances of every subject at hand.
He sees the 'moment of photography' as a synthesis of two strains
of feelings, cultures and vibes. Thus an amalgam of vibrancy and forethought
underlies his work.
His signature style:
A fierce streak of individuality, an abiding love for the kaleidoscope
of color and rich warmth of India, is what make his work distinctive
and decidedly different. Gifted with the 'sensitivity' of vision and
the 'sense' to translate thoughts into reality, we wish him the very
best in his relentless quest for a 'piece of posterity'
.
