'The Peacock', the basement restaurant on Residency road, is
the place for people with a taste for good food. "This restaurant
was established twenty five years ago and we still have our old customers
with us. We were one of the first restaurants in Bangalore," says
Raymond Doss, the Manager of The Peacock.
"We have seen this city change drastically over the years. Our
Proprietor Baldev Ramnarayan was the one who started this place and,
even today, we are well known for quality service and cuisine."
Their clientele….
"The family crowd, Executives, Multi Nationals, Politicians and Ambassadors
have all been our customers. Of late, a lot of kitty parties are arranged
in the 'Green House' a
separate section, ideal for such things or for a cozy romantic evening.
We also undertake out door catering orders and home delivery with
no extra charges levied. Recently, we have launched another unique
facility for our customers. It is a 'car pick up', which will
pick you up from your doorsteps within half an hour, wherever you
are, and drop you back! We at the Peacock never say 'no' to
our customers' demands. We go out of our way to please them!"
Their special fare…
"All the dishes served here are special as each dish is personally
supervised by me. Our sizzlers, tandoori (platter) and soufflé move
fast with customers.
We also have a separate bar section called 'Safari' that can
accommodate 25 people. The ambience of the place is well taken care
of with greenery everywhere. Everything here, right from the furniture
to sofa covers and paintings, reminds one that Bangalore has lost
its greenery and that's why we are trying to retrieve it! 'Traditional
and impeccable service' is our watch- word. We also have a party
room called 'Pot Pourrie' which accommodates 75 people. We
serve Indian, Continental and Chinese food."
The cuisine…
" We know that our food is the best! Our staff have been with us for
many years and they are all well trained in their area of expertise.
We also give the staff in-house training once a month. Our quality
food and service are our hallmark and we hold on to it. We have a
specialty dessert called 'Baked Alaska' an ice-cream which
is baked in oven! One can also take a walk into our kitchen and have
a look. It is very clean and neat as we lay a lot of emphasis on cleanliness."
Plans for the New Year….
" We have no plans as such and this has always been so with The
Peacock! We never arrange any kind of New Year bash. Our
restaurant is open till 12.30am for the New
Year. Besides, not everybody likes the hustle-bustle of the New Year
evening. So, we at The Peacock arrange a peaceful evening for such
people. It is indeed different from the other restaurants! We do not
levy any extra charges for New Year or Christmas."
