CHILDREN'S
ART FOUNDATION (CAF)

The objectives of the CAF are:
To work a synthesis between the medium of art and medicine for holistic
healing.
To help children develop creative skills and explore various methods
of self-expression.
To reduce the feelings of helplessness with the help of creative
activity.
Disorders that are worked on are:
Chronic diseases such as asthma, epilepsy, eating disorders
and cancer.
Treatment is offered to children with special needs for diseases
and disabilities such as:
Down's syndrome, Autistic tendencies, Learning disabilities, HIV,
Emotional/behavioural difficulties, depression or other affective
disorders, hearing or other sensory impairment and physical disabilities.
The therapists use a variety of techniques selectively and sensitively,
including role-play, improvisation, mime, enactment, story telling,
games, text, drawing and painting.
Centres
There is a therapy centre at the Bangalore Children's Hospital
& Research Centre in Rajarajeswarinagar. The CAF
office is in Malleswaram. For parents, specialised services such
as counselling and workshops on creative parenting are offered.
To become a member of the Children's Art Foundation, the registration
fee is Rs. 300/- per annum.

is a clinic which offers hope to the hearing impaired.
Sherya Hearing Clinic was established in the year 1996. It provides
the best facilities and services for all sorts of hearing ailments.
This year it was lauded with the " Siemens Excellence Award 2000"
for its commendable work in the field of hearing rehabilitation.
They meet all the national and international standards in the field
of hearing rehabilitation. This clinic is the first of its kind in
Karnataka to offer computer programmable hearing instruments. It is
also the first in India to develop the fully computerised patients
management system.
 The
various facilities that are available at this hearing rehabilitation
centre are computerised real ear measurement, computerised hearing
aid analyser; computerised audiometer. Apart from these facilities
they have High Technology German IT laboratory mainly to analyse and
provide hearing aid customisation.
Services include complete assessment of hearing loss, loudness scaling
tests, pediatric assessment & screening, trial and fitting hearing
aids, rehabilitation services, extensive aftercare services and repairs
of hearing aids.
The hearing aid instruments made by SCH are on par with the international
standards.
