CIE in our garden city, is located centrally in a
century old bungalow. It retains the last generation's grace,
charm and warmth. Large French windows, deep set under the
eaves, peer out across sprawling lawns and lush greenery of
three acres. It serves both the customers and the people involved
in the industry.
The rich craft heritage of India is unique, as its customs
and traditions, having no parallel in the world, in diversity
as well as in technique and use
of materials. Each part of the country has its own unique
cultural ethos, which is manifested in the crafts of that
particular region. These craft traditions are influenced by
local topography, climate, and socio-religious factors. They
also depend heavily on the availability of raw material on
the one hand and the demand for the finished product in domestic
as well as foreign markets on the other hand.
What CIE does is to offer a platform to showcase this
diversity. Ms Shabnam who manages CIE, Bangalore says,
"Every item in CIE is unique. It has its own aesthetic
value and beauty, each item speaks for itself."
