Bedi, who took up fashion designing with a passion, has
now turned into an interior designer and opened his own showroom,
Simply Wood on Double Road, Indiranagar in Bangalore.
The shop sells all kinds of furniture for homes and offices
and undertakes interiors for individual and corporate houses.
The transition from fashion designing to interior designing….
I did the interiors and furniture for my own house on an experimental
basis. It impressed me and others as well. That prompted me
to take up interiors and furniture making and I opened this
showroom, Simply Wood.
The name Simply Wood…
Those who see the furniture and interiors at my showroom get
the feeling that the furniture is very light in appearance without
heavily varn ished
colours. They look very attractive, natural, and cost wise also
they are not very expensive. That is why I named my shop Simply
Wood.
The market for furniture and interiors….
Business is good. The prices of other types of wood have gone
up, almost on par with teak. The speciality of our furniture
is that they look very natural and light in colour.
And it all started….
This showroom was started in August 1999.
The process from raw wood to furniture…
All the wood that we use for the furniture and interiors is
treated, "Melamine" coated and wax polished. Hence, the furniture
is water and heat resistant to some extent.
The types of furniture produced and sold…
We undertake orders for A to Z in furniture and interiors. We
sell small items like wooden trays and photo frames to larger
foldable furniture like tables, cots, cradles, chairs, C D racks,
and other gift articles in wood.
 Assignments
you have taken up….
So far in Bangalore I have done interiors for three houses and
two offices. We have also done interiors in Chennai. Another
assignment on hand is in Delhi.
The trend in the business….
The trend is very encouraging in this business. As far as I
know, in Bangalore alone three more similar showrooms have opened
up recently.
