assess the value of your property. The Institution of Valuers (IoV),
established in 1968, assists sellers and buyers with scientific
assessment of property to arrive at a realistic price. This institution
has a membership of over 500. A registered valuer should be a member
of IoV.
The entry of members into the IoV is thoroughly screened and only
competent people are allowed. A valuer recognised by the IoV has to
fulfil some minimum qualifications. On addition, the Income Tax department
also sets some criteria for registration of valuers. There are 14
disciplines in the field of valuation. The valuers also value machineries,
industries, plantations, stock and shares.
