In
an athletic career spanning 12 years, Reeth Abraham has won 16 Gold
and 11 Silver medals at the
national level. She was a national champion in long jump, 100 metres
hurdles and heptathlon. She won the heptathlon from 1983 to 1987,
except for just one loss in 1985. She won 3 Gold and 1 Silver medal
at South Asian Games, holding the records in Long Jump and
100 metres hurdles. She has participated in many Asian championships
and
twice in South Asian Games. Reeth married Sunil Abraham, an international
athlete from Bangalore. Together, they founded the SURE (SUnil-REeth)
Athletic Movement, which trains talented athletes. She is the only
Indian to win a national championship within 10 months of the birth
of her daughter. Reeth was honoured with the State Government's
Rajyotsava Award (1983), Dasara Award (1990), Rotary
and Lions Award. Her best performance to date: 100 metres hurdles:14.21
seconds. Long Jump:6.28 metres. Heptathlon:4931 points.
