Born at Indore in 1973, Rahul Dravid is the most technically sound
batsman in the national cricket team. He is a right hand batsman and
a useful reserve wicket keeper. He made his debut in the Ranji
Trophy match against Maharashtra at Pune in 1990-91. He is the
youngest Karnataka player to score a maiden century in Ranji. He represented
'India A' in the Test against New Zealand in 1994-95 and the Board
President XI against West Indies in 1994-95. He also represented 'India
Under-19' against England-A in 1993-94. He made his debut in One
Day Internationals against Sri Lanka at Singapore in 1996. His
highest score in One Day Internationals is 153 and 190 in Tests.
Dravid was the highest scorer in the 1999 WORLD CUP, when he
along with Sourav Ganguly created a new World record for the highest
partnership of 318 runs for any wicket. He has been honoured with
the Arjuna Award.
Born in Bangalore in 1970, Anil Kumble was the Vice-Captain of
the Indian Cricket team and the Captain of the Karnataka state
team. Although he is devastating with his spells of right arm leg
breaks, he is also an useful batsman down the order. He made his first
class debut against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy match, his
Test debut was at Manchester 1990 against England and the one day
international debut at Sharjah 1990 versus Sri Lanka. He has taken
more than 175 wickets in both forms of cricket. He represented Northampshire
in the England County Cricket and created history by taking more than
10 wickets in the same season. He also has to his credit of taking
5 wickets or more on 8 occasions. In 1999 he not only got married
but also equalled Jim Laker's record of scalping all 10 wickets
in an innings against arch-rivals Pakistan. He was honoured with Arjuna
Award in 1996. To commemorate his taking of ten wickets in a test
match against Pakistan in 1999, the Karnataka Government has
named a circle after him in Bangalore city.
Anil Kumble joined the elite 300 wickets club during
the second days match against England in Chinnaswamy stadium, Bangalore
on 20 Dec, 2001.

Frontline
bowler, Srinath (born 1969) an Engineer from Mysore University,
was well into professional cricket even as a student. He started playing
for Karnataka in 1989. He made his Test debut vs. Australia at Brisbane
on 29 November 1991 and ODI debut vs. Pakistan at Sharjah on 18 October
1991. He is the first from Karnataka to have played over 100
limited-over one-day internationals. Having achieved a hat trick on
his debut, his performances in the World Cup Series are noted.

Born in 1969 in Bangalore, Venkatesh Prasad is one of Indian cricket
team's ace bowler. He made his first class debut in the Ranji Trophy
match against Kerala in 1990-91. He played his first one-dayer against
New Zealand at Christchurch in 1994 and represented India for the
first time in a Test match in 1996 at Edgbaston against England. He
has a remarkable record of taking 68 wickets in 25 matches at an average
of 8.70. His best performance came against Pakistan when he took 3
wickets for just 22 runs.
Oneof India's best known batsmen, Vishwanath was born in Bhadravathi
in Karnataka in 1949. Playing his debut Ranji Trophy in the
1967-68 season, his batting performance took him through Duleep
Trophy, Irani Trophy and then his first international Test match
in 1969-70, against Australia. He is the only Indian and second in
the world to score a century in both First Class and Test debut matches.
He is also the only player to score over 1000 runs in Irani Cup.
He holds the record for playing 87 Tests for India without a break.
Vishwanath was honoured with the national award - Padmashri
in 1977 and the Arjuna Award in 1978. He now lives with his
family in Bangalore.
Acclaimed
as one of the world's best wicket keepers, Kirmani played cricket,
hockey, and football in school. Keki B. Tarapore spotted and
groomed him in cricket. He played for the first ever Indian school
team in England as a batsman, then in Ranji Trophy and Zonals.
His tenure in international cricket was from 1976 to 1993. His sharp
stumpings and brilliant catches in the 1983 World Cup created
history.
Track record: 88 Test matches, 49 one day internationals, 198
victims as a wicket keeper in Test matches He has also scored
nearly 3000 runs. Best Sportsman of the Year-19'67-'68. National awards
include Padmashri and Arjuna Award -19'83-'84. State
Govt. Ekalavya Award 1993. He was the Manager of India A Team.
And currently, he's the selector of state players and also plays for
World Masters. Born in Madras, Kirmani is presently living in the
garden city. He is married to Habiba and has two daughters and
a son.
