To really experience the back
roads of Karnataka away from the highways, you should have your own
vehicle. Getting a chauffeur driven car is recommended because
they know the lay of the land and accustommed to the sometimes
chaotic traffic. Some reliable companies include: Navras Tours and
Travels and Auto Riders - Rent - A - Car (previously Hertz).
Questions to raise before renting a chauffeur
driven car:
• Is the
car insured?
• Does the
car have an all India permit (for travel outside Karnataka)?
• Does the
driver have a valid driver's license?
• What is
the exact rent of the car ( per km / per hour / per day-week)?
• Any hidden
costs? Tax inclusive? Driver's bata? Airconditioned? Stereo?
• Is the
car for self or chauffeur driven?
• Do you
need to receive and return the car with a full tank of petrol/diesel?
Note: Diesel is more cost-effective
than Petrol for long journeys.
