The Basil is another attraction added to the Garden City,
Bangalore. Situated in one of the older areas of Bangalore,
Malleswaram, the hotel is self sufficient in all respects. An
added advantage for its guests is its proximity to the city
railway station and the central bus-station. Though the hotel
is only a few months old, it is already gaining popularity for
its warm hospitality and other facilities.
An attractive fountain welcomes guests at the reception lobby
of the hotel. The well trained staff of The Basil make
the guest's stay here a pleasurable experience. The rooms are
attractive and clean. Care has been taken to provide comfortable
mattresses made of natural latex with rubberized coir. The roof
top restaurant on its fourth floor gives a lovely view of the
surroundings.
Keeping in view the busy road on which the hotel is located,
double glazed window sections have been used in all the rooms
to cut down the noise level and make it sound proof.
According to the director of The Basil, Vivek Tholasi
and General Manager, V Ramesh, their establishment
targets corporate clients. The hotel has 36 rooms including
a banquet hall and restaurant facilities.
"We are proud to introduce the first hotel in India, and
particularly Bangalore, to have an Oxygen Bar where our hotel
guests can relax by inhaling the pure and aromatic oxygen
in pin-drop silence", say these two.
The hotel serves both south and north Indian Tandoor
dishes. The south Indian lunch has a special menu everyday.
Hand ground spices with less fat content are used and
the guests are allowed into the kitchen of the roof Top Restaurant,
The Herb. Tandoor dishes are served in the evenings.
The Tholasi Group, founded by D K Ashwathanarayana
Shetty, is into a whole lot of other businesses too -
Tholasi Jewellery Mart in Mysore, Tholasi Farms, Tholasi Prints
(India) Bangalore, and of late Tholasi Hotels Private Limited.
The hotel premises can be rented for marriages and functions
also. Plans are on the anvil to open up a similar hotel in
Mysore and another in Bangalore itself.
