"It
is the mixture of creativity, talent and dedication that makes
one a good artist," says Shiv Kumar an artist
by profession who has mastered wall murals, sculpting and
painting.
He used to do painting as a hobby during childhood and took
it up as his career after he failed to get a job after completing
his graduation. He later attained his Diploma in Painting
at Ken School of Art in 1997 and then started working
under Mr. Venkatachallapati, a renowned sculptor.
"It was under his guidance that I could do the work
to perfection, he has been of great help to me in the beginning
of my career" recalls Shivkumar.
They
have conducted several summer camps for children where they
used to teach them the different ways of making murals and
sculptures. The camps conducted at Vijamahanthesa College,
Hubli, which was a weeklong camp and the one at Kalamandir,
Bangalore were the memorable ones.
"We wanted to create awareness among the children about
the art and how interesting it could be when practiced,"
says Shivkumar worried about people losing interest towards
the art.
He
was involved in several projects for corporate houses and
out of this a 14 ft mural for Ashwini Recording Co. and the
18 ft mural for a residence at Shankarapuram are the ones
which give him satisfaction.
"It's the job satisfaction and happiness I search for
in my work," says Shivkumar.
He is at present trying out something new called as the mix
media wall mural wherein they mix all kinds of media for
the mural to get something unique.
