Ganesh Desai, Vocalist
He
is young, handsome and talented. A rather cliched description? We do agree,
but Ganesh Desai is just that. An exclusive Sugam Sangeet
vocalist, he creates melody blending western and traditional styles of music.
His Sugam Sangeet lyrics are based on nature and love. "Sugam Sangeet
is music in a rhyming sequence. They are sung lightly with expression and
deft pronunciation.
" He learnt classical music and Sugam Sangeet for 15
years. His first guru was R P Asund. He learnt tabla from his father
Pandit Vasant Kanakapur. He passed the vocal, tabla and instrumental
from Karnataka Education Board when he was barely in his teens and
secured the First Rank in State Senior Tabla examination.
He is one of Ubhayagana Vidushi Shyamala G Bhave's favourite disciple.
A 'B' grade light music artiste of AIR, Dharwad, he has been composing
patriotic songs, bhajans, devotional songs and children's songs. He is a
graduate of Business Administration and also a budding poet.

state level competitions.
- Has performed at various places in North Kanara and out of Karnataka.
He has also accompanied on harmonium and tabla for various artistes.

R Rahman. "like Rahman. He is very creative and I get inspiration
from Madras. I am also inspired by Bendre, Gokak and the great Kuvempu.
I would like to form a choir group in my village combining Indian tunes
and western chord."
