Sangeetha with one of her paintingsSangeetha Ghoshal

An exhibition of 20 abstract water colours by an advertising professional, Sangeetha Ghoshal, were on display at the Renaissance Gallery on Cunningham Road. The art exhibition was inaugurated by noted theatrical celebrity, Mahesh Dattani on October, 27. The art works, entitled 'Framed in Black' had been executed in striking colours and was very attractive.

Sangeetha said that the colours she uses in her art are vibrant and she frames her works in black to give more glow to the painting.

Having been an advertising professional for the past 15 years, Sangeetha agreed that her profession has had a great deal of influence on her creative art. However, the subject matter does not change in her art works. Her childhood memories, love for nature are the main inputs in her colourful abstracts. Sangeetha at the Renaissance Gallery

"The advertising field enriches my experience, it keeps me stimulated, triggered. It has kept me in tune with the art world in its own way, with the movement of art. I consider advertising as an art too. The influence of advertising has only been positive on my paintings," she said. Sangeetha is into creative writing also.

Sangeetha has not taken art as just a hobby. She has studied it for 12 years at the prestigious Chatrangshu Art Iinstitute in Calcutta and has been trained under painters and sculptors like Madhab Bhattacharya, Laluprasad Sau and Karthik Pyne.
