Bangalore - It's the Time to "Habba"
In
Bangalore, it's "Habba" time again. I mean the Third Annual
Bangalore Habba, of course. The festival that celebrates the
spirit of the city will be held during the first week of December,
just as Christmas trees begins to appear in shopping malls
and the sounds of jingle bells and cash registers ringing
mingle. Bangalore Habba will include added attractions like
shopping, food, screening of films, neighbourhood cricket
matches, street theatre, youth festival and adventure sports.
Over 2,750 artistes from Karnataka and 250 artistes from across
the country will perform in 125 events at 60 venues at the
10-day Bangalore Habba to be held from December 2 to 11.
According
to Nandini Alva, spokesperson of the Artistes Foundation for
Arts (AFFA), "Bangalore Habba is a city festival held every
December and it brings together all sections of society to
celebrate Bangalore". If music, theatre and dance were the
USP of the last 2 years, this year, the primary accent is
on nurturing and showcasing the talents with in the state.
In keeping with the spirit of Suvarna Karnataka, the Habba
is festooned with a distinctly regional flavour.
