India reflects the image of a country that wakes up every
morning making life look a little easy amidst chaos. Ever since
its independence, it has evolved from a country enslaved by
the British Raj to a country that has charted its unique niche
around the world. Unfortunately, some parts of the western world
still perceive it as one of the toughest countries to live in
considering the high percentage of poverty, one of the highest
populations in the world and growing unemployment rate. But
then India surprises the world despite all these tough conditions.
One quarter of US goes on a stand still due to an unscheduled
power failure, while something like this doesn't seem to affect
India very much. What keeps India going upbeat? The answer
is its people; their fabric is of a tougher kind.
Struggle is not an issue of social debate but is a way-of-life,
it's their whole mind set.
This is the land where over 50 religions survive together;
it is the land where women have taken their men through a
sound thrashing session to stop them from drinking Alcohol.
It is a land of economic opportunity, CEOs of MNCs now prefer
India over other Asian countries, for they can so much blend
into it as if it were their home land .
Considered around the world as a country that doesn't adapt
very well to western patterns of life, it goes to prove them
wrong, because by 2010, India will become the largest English
-speaking nation in the world, overtaking the United States.
Indians have taken to western food and culture more enthusiastically
than anybody else. Countries like China, Japan and Korea prefer
their own cuisine. It is emerging very strongly as the knowledge
and talent capital of the world. Its contribution in the field
of IT is undisputable; its emerging BPO status is already
causing ripples in the western shores.
All this socio-economic reform is again due to the people
of Indian and their confident mindset. Indeed a surviving
legend.
