Applying for Indian Citizenship

Application:

The deputy commissioner of the concerned revenue district has to be approached for the application form.

The completed application form is to be sent to the state government for verification.

After scrutiny, the state government sends it to the union government for consideration.

Police verification is carried out to ensure a crime free record.

The central government goes through the application, verifies it, cross checks the several laws concerned, and finally processes the citizenship.

Eligibility:

Those who have stayed in India without a break for five to ten years, depending on their nationality.

How long does it take:

Between 12 to 18 months.

Criteria for selection:

The most crucial aspect is the individual's residential permit. He/she should have stayed in India without a break in visa for a period of five to ten years.

Obtaining concessional bus passes from BMTC

Those who are eligible for concessional passes:

Students - from primary level to college

Commuters

Police Constables

Journalists

BMTC employees and their dependents

Procedure:

Get the application form from one of the BMTC counters.

Fill it up and attach a college identity card and admission receipt (for student pass). Journalists must produce their accreditation card, issued by the department of information and publicity.

Pay the prescribed amount and submit the filled form. For computerised passes, an additional fee of Rs 10 has to be paid. Passes will be issued on the spot.

An identity card along with the pass will be issued in case of commuter passes. Bring a photograph along.

What you have to pay

Student Pass

Up to class VII: Rs 50 for 10 months

From Class VIII to X: Rs 150 for 10 months

College students: Rs 300 for 10 months

Commuter Pass

City services: Rs 280 per month

City and suburban services: Rs 405per month

City, suburban and Pushpak: Rs 440 per month
