Applying for Indian Citizenship


Application:
  • The deputy commissioner of the concerned revenue district has to be approached for the application form.
  • The completed application form is to be sent to the state government for verification.
  • After scrutiny, the state government sends it to the union government for consideration.
  • Police verification is carried out to ensure a crime free record.
  • The central government goes through the application, verifies it, cross checks the several laws concerned, and finally processes the citizenship.

    Eligibility:
  • Those who have stayed in India without a break for five to ten years, depending on their nationality.

    How long does it take:
  • Between 12 to 18 months.

    Criteria for selection:
  • The most crucial aspect is the individual's residential permit. He/she should have stayed in India without a break in visa for a period of five to ten years.

    Obtaining concessional bus passes from BMTC

    Those who are eligible for concessional passes:
  • Students - from primary level to college
  • Commuters
  • Police Constables
  • Journalists
  • BMTC employees and their dependents

    Procedure:
  • Get the application form from one of the BMTC counters.
  • Fill it up and attach a college identity card and admission receipt (for student pass). Journalists must produce their accreditation card, issued by the department of information and publicity.
  • Pay the prescribed amount and submit the filled form. For computerised passes, an additional fee of Rs 10 has to be paid. Passes will be issued on the spot.
  • An identity card along with the pass will be issued in case of commuter passes. Bring a photograph along.

    What you have to pay

    Student Pass
  • Up to class VII: Rs 50 for 10 months
  • From Class VIII to X: Rs 150 for 10 months
  • College students: Rs 300 for 10 months

    Commuter Pass
  • City services: Rs 280 per month
  • City and suburban services: Rs 405per month
  • City, suburban and Pushpak: Rs 440 per month
