Getting a gun license

Eligibility:

  • Anyone without a criminal background is permitted to get a gun licenseGun
  • One should be physically fit and a doctor's certificate is a must.
  • If a person is physically infirm, he can get another member of his family to be a retainer of that weapon.

    Procedure:

  • Pick up an application form from the police commissioner's office located on Infantry Road, Bangalore.

  • Submit it to the zonal deputy commissioner's office with all the requisite details such as medical certificate and a passport-size photograph.

  • A police officer from the jurisdictional police station will visit your residence to verify your credentials.

  • Based on this, the Zonal Deputy Commissioner will forward his report to the DCP (administration).

  • On further report from the DCP (administration), the police commissioner will issue the gun license.
