Child
Rights and You, formerly known as Child Relief and
You - is India's leading advocate for child rights.
CRY believes that all children are entitled to equal
rights and hence must be ensured equal opportunities
to live, learn, play, grow and develop - without discrimination.
CRY believes that a movement for child rights is possible
only when individuals from all sections of society
are involved. Over 28 years CRY has partnered with
NGOs, communities, government, the media and is dedicated
to mobilize all sections of society to eliminate the
root causes of deprivation, exclusion, exploitation
and abuse, to ensure justice for children.
CRY's approach to sustainable development is based
on the firm belief of community empowerment and citizen
action whilst holding the state responsible for ensuring
children's rights. A ‘people’s movement’
CRY has been mobilizing people from diverse segments
- each pledging their particular strengths, working
in partnership for their common cause.
CRY’s interventions at the grass root
levels include:
1) Direct action to address immediate,
critical needs
2) Community mobilisation to empower
them to stand up for their rights and those of their
children.
3) Influencing child-friendly Policies
Through this process CRY effects grassroots movements
of change that empower deprived communities to take
responsibility for their lives and the future of their
children. With the ultimate goal -- to build a peoples’
movement for the rights of India’s children.
CRY
today supports 219 development initiatives in 18 key
states across India.

CRY's
'Second Life' - A new Initiative
Aiming
to reach a wider global audience, create awareness
of child rights, and involve people of all ages, from
all walks of life, in taking action, Child Rights
& You (CRY) along with its partners CRY America
and CRY UK has opened its office in ‘Second
Life’. CRY hopes to build a global virtual community
of child rights advocates by encouraging people to
play their part in correcting injustice to marginalised
children.
This step
makes CRY the ‘first Indian non-profit organisation
working on child rights’ to have an office in
Second Life, touted as the hottest online virtual

company and the first Indian company that works exclusively
on virtual world technologies like Second Life has
partnered CRY to build its virtual office.
Designed
as lego blocks, the office is a unique structure emphasizing
the core essence of CRY’s work which is children.
