Ponnappa
Cartoonist
Born
in Mangalore (Coastal Karnataka) in 1948, Ponnappa's early education
was in Mangalore, Pune and Madras. He graduated as an architect
and went abroad for higher studies in Chicago. He dropped out,
came back to work as an architect in Madras, Delhi and Lagos.
He settled down in Bangalore in 1982 to pursue a career as a
freelance cartoonist. His work, satirical, witty, always with
a cutting edge have appeared in most major publications in India,
making him a household name. He contributes to The Times Of
India and The Economic Times (dailies) in Bangalore and the
Mid-day (daily) in Mumbai.
Radhakrishna
Advertising film maker, Photographer
Doing
a textile design course after schooling, keen interest in directing
films brought Mr.Radhakrishna to Bangalore in 1977. Working
with an advertising agency for 3 years, he took up still photography
in 1984, directing ad films from '89 onwards. He won an award
for his very first assignment, for Titan. In 1990 he won the
prestigious New York Film Festival award for the Wilman Shaving
Cream ad. Others: Best campaign award from the Bombay Ad Club('96)
for Titan Tanishq, A&M award for still photography for Kissan
Exotica, Bangalore Ad Club (BAC) award for Brittania Pure Magic,
BAC award for stills ('94) for Deepam Silks. Now 39 years old,
he hopes to direct a feature film soon. Fast cars, collecting
model cars and listening to music are a passion with him.
Sudhir Ramchandran
Advertising, corporate, fashion photographer
Bangalore
based Sudhir Ramchandran, a leading photographer, runs one of
the largest photographic houses with in-house colour labs, training
facilities for students. Some of his awards include : Gold Medal,
UNESCO for photographic contribution (1993), Citation by Japanese
Sunset Exhibition, (1994). Only Asian on the Global Copyright
Panel, Ambassador - World Council of Professional Photographers
(Geneva), he teaches Fine Arts courses in universities. Also
President - Advertising and Industrial Photographers Association
of India. He studied advanced colour photography with Sinar
(Switzerland) and colour processing with Kodak (New York). He
has attended workshops worldwide and co-produced mega workshops
like "Compression Curve" and "News School" series on photography,
printing and digital imaging.
