Vani Ganapathy
Bharathanatyam
Dancer
Vani
Ganapathy, dancer and interior designer, is grace personified.
Initiated by her mother into the art of Bharathanatyam at
the tender age of four, her first stage performance, 'Arangetram',
was at seven under her first guru Smt. Rajalakshmi
in Calcutta and there has been no looking back since then.
She has been recognized as a 'Raj Bhavan Artiste' by
the Governor of Maharashtra and has danced in honour of their
majesties the king and queen of Nepal among others. After
she won the Miss Teen Princess India, she went on to
make her debut in the film world and later became an artist
of distinction. For the past twenty years she has been learning
from Guru Kalyana Sundaram of Rajarajeshwari Kala
Mandir at Mumbai.
For her each day is a new day, she does not have any kind
of routine or pattern, it is never like a 9 to 5 job. Vani
Ganapathy runs a dance institution, 'Sanchari', where
she trains enthusiastic and dedicated youngsters. She believes
rhythm is in built into every human being, it's part of being
born. The dance school has about 15 or 16 children presently.
She also designs homes, giving interiors her intuitive sense
of finesse and elegance. Though not an avid party-goer, she
loves party cooking and playing golf. She pursues a variety
of activities that are not time bound and which gives her
the freedom to learn and enjoy.
