Here
we present a TIMELINE of Bangalore created with an emphasis
on personalities, major events and monuments.
Bangalore evolved
from a small village with a mud fort in 1100 A.D. to
a modest military and trading centre during the Muslim
and British occupation. It is now one of the leading
cities in the country in terms of industry, trade and
commerce.
The Timeline has been
divided into the following five periods. To read further

A
Flag is Born
The 'Tiranga Pyaara' or the tricolour
was adopted by the constituent assembly on 22nd July,
1947. The three colours signify sacrifice, purity and

Raj Bhavan
Formerly
called The Residency, now Raj Bhavan, is the present
home of the Governor of Karnataka, Rama Devi. It is
one of the first important buildings to be built in
1842 in Bangalore. According to one account, Sir Mark
Cubbon bought the building from a private European.
Cubbon lived in the building as Commissioner for Mysore
Affairs.
HAMPI
- The Erstwhile Capital of The Vijayanagar Empire
The
ruins of forts, palaces, temples and statues in Hampi
speak of a civilization that flourished more than
400 years ago. You can picture the splendor of Vijayanagar
at its best by climbing the steps leading to a small
