AGUMBE:
Motoring down from Shimoga one reaches Tirthahalli and thence to Agumbe.
As you approach Agumbe the temperature drops suddenly and you are

km away. From Bangalore take the National Highway No.4 up to Nelamangala
and then switch to National Highway No.48 till Mangalore. National
Highway No.17 from Mangalore will take you to Udupi and Agumbe is
only 50 km away. Buses ply regularly from Bangalore to Agumbe.
By Rail: Udupi is the nearest railway station.
By Air: Mangalore is the nearest airport.

Yet another beautiful scenic hill station nestling amidst the Western
Ghats. The Linganmakki Dam is a short distance away, don't

REACHING THERE:
By Road: Kodachadri is about 400 km from Bangalore being
closer to
Shimoga which is 120 km away. From Bangalore take the National
Highway No.4 upto Nelamangala and then switch to National Highway
No.48 till Hassan. State Highways will take you to Shimoga via Chickmagalur,
Tarikere and Bhadravati. Farther west from Shimoga is Kodachadri
almost three hours away.

KUDREMUKH:
You've
decided to explore nature at its pristine best. Fed up with the
crowded tourist spots, you long for a place to stand and stare at
nature. Now assuming that you have all "the time to stand and stare"
go to KUDREMUKH, Karnataka's very own "Horse-Faced Hill"
(Kudre=Horse and Mukha=Face).
The Kudremukh Hills overlook the Arabian Sea. This range is formed
from a continuous range of hills and is dotted with numerous caves.
The valleys are deep and the precipice steep. It offers an idyllic
opportunity for trekkers with deep forests interspersed with rivers,
grassy slopes, captivating cascades and if you are on the
look out, you could spot rare orchids growing in the wild! You could
even stumble across some ruins....
Situated at 1,894.3 metres above sea level, KUDREMUKH is rich in
iron ore deposits. The KUDREMUKH Iron Ore Company has given a new
life to the region turning it into a humming modern township, without
taking away its natural beauty. One hopes that it will remain so.

from Chickmagalur. Mangalore is less than 100 km away. Motor out
of Bangalore towards Nelamangala on National Highway No.4 and drive
to Chickmagalur and thence to Kudremukh.

B. R. HILLS
Looking for a cool time with a little bit of wild
excitement? Biligiri Ranga or the B R Hills is just the place for
you. Picturesquely situated between the rivers Cauvery and Kapila,
the Biligiri Ranga range of hills is at a height of 5,091 feet above
sea level. These h ills
stretch from north to south for about 16 km with deciduous trees
all around.
Roaming amidst the long grass and tall trees are animals. Plenty
of them! So you can wake up to the chirping of birds and humming
of bees, breathe in the fresh air and take a stroll through the
sylvan surroun-dings. Let the cool breeze blow your worries away.
As the day slowly slips into dusk, watch the stars come out,
one by one. The moon casts a silver light. And some- where in the
distance you hear a tiger roar! How close you are to nature and
how peaceful life is here!
To the spiritually inclined there is a temple of Biligiri Rangaswamy
on the hill that attracts devotees all through the year.

By Road: B R Hills is 120 km from Mysore and 247 km from Bangalore.
From Bangalore take the State Highway via Kanakapura, Malavalli, Kollegal
and reach B R Hills in about 4-5 hrs provided the roads are good!
