A
small dargah in memory of Hazarat Syed Chanchal Shah Kadri Rahamud
Ulla Alaye situated on the cross road of Queens Road, next to
Kamala Bai School is one of the oldest dargahs in the city. It was
built around 150 years ago.Thousands of Bangaloreans have been visiting
this dargah to find solace.
"It has been believed that whatever one wishes here will
be fulfilled," says Syed Aman Ulla also known as
Baba Saheb, the Fakir who has been here for the past 40 years.
This tradition has been passed on by his older generations. He stays
next to the dargah with his family. The Fakir claims to have meditated
for 41 days at Pilgunda Hills, Hyderabad without food and water
by chanting the name of Allah.
T he
speciality here is people from all faiths facing problems come to
this place with a lock and pray for a solution and later fix it
to the grill on the door at the rear. Later the key is thrown away.
"These locks are usually allowed to remain for a year and
later we call a key maker and break open the locks which are thrown
into the nearby lakes," says Syed Aman Ulla. The door is
open to all communities and no one is restricted from entering the
dargah.
There is a separate room wherein people come and put forward their
troubles in front of the fakir who later tries to provide solace to
them with some prayers.
"I
am just the mediator between the people and the god, he is the one
who actually relieves people from their problems and I am always
available for the service of the people," says Syed Aman
Ulla.
The dargah is open from morning 6 to 10 in the night and the Fakir
is available from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm. There is a grand
function held once in a year, which is four days before Id Milad
when nearly ten to twelve thousand people gather here. Karnataka
State Minister, Roshan Baig is one of the famous personalities
to have visited this dargah.
