India's first ever ranking of the best & worst Indian states
has been compiled in the special issue of India Today, dated May
19, 2003. The states have been ranked on overall performance parameters
with focus on both Business Environment and Quality of Life.
Prosperous history, sea & land links and the developmental efforts
of Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar launched Goa to the first rank.
Delhi ranked second followed by Punjab, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh,
Tamil Nadu, Harayana, Gujarat, Maharastra and Karnataka.
Andhra Pradesh was given the status of the fastest mover.
The worst state ranking was bagged by Bihar.
