ROAD NETWORK
Bangalore is located at the junction of National Highways 4, 7, 17,
13 and 48 which connect it to all parts of the state and country with
good roads. The bus service is the safest bet in this part of the
state. It is probably one of the most reliable among the available
services, especially for the rural population.
Neighbouring State Road Transport Corporations from Kerala, Tamil
Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa, connect the city with their
respective states.
In addition, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation runs reciprocal
services within the state as well as to the neighbouring states. The
Interstate Bus Terminus is located near the railway station.

RAILWAY NETWORK
Southern Railways operates extensively in Karnataka. Bangalore is
connected to the rest of the country by many rail services. Bangaore
city is an important railway station on the Southern Railway network.

AIRWAYS
Karnataka has three airports
- Bangalore, Mangalore and Belgaum. Bangalore Airport is located about
8 km from the M.G. Road area in the city. The Airport coach is run
by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, tourist taxis,
prepaid taxi services and autorickshaws provide convenient and speedy
transfers to and from the airport.
Indian Airlines
connects Bangalore by regular flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai,
Calcutta, Hyderabad, Goa and Thiruvananthapuram outside the state
and to Mangalore and Belgaum within.

TELECOM
Karnataka is well linked throughout the state. All districts have
STD & ISD facilities, villages also have phone facilities and all
calls within a district are metred as local calls.
NATURAL RESOURCES
Karnataka has an abundance of natural resources like
iron ore (Kudremukh & Hospet belts), manganese
(Kudremukh), clay, soapstone, chrome ore and of course the
Rs 2000 crore foreign exchange earner GRANITE. The latter is
in plenty and is the best in the world. Little wonder that Bangalore
is considered the stone capital of India.
COASTLINE
Karnataka has a well developed coastline. Mangalore is a good all
weather port, handling ore, granite, cashew, sand and other bulk &
containerised commodities. Bangalore is a dry port with the inland
container depot (ICD) located at Whitefield. Goods are stuffed in
containers here and shipped by rail to Chennai, Cochin or other ports
as required.
