Ganjam
Nagappa & Sons
history can be traced back 400 years when a group
of merchants trading
in precious stones
are said to have migrated from the Ganjam district in Orissa. In
1942 Ganjam was appointed by a royal degree as jeweller to
his majesty, the Maharaja of Mysore This happened during the period
of Ganjam Subbaramiah. By this time, Ganjam had established itself
firmly as a maker of fine diamond and traditional jewellery encrusted
with precious stones.
In
1959 the eldest son of Ganjam Subbaramiah took over the reins of
the business. Ganjam was invited
by the Maharaja of Nepal to train goldsmiths in his country and
to design and make jewellery for the Royal Temple in Kathmandu.
In 1971, Ganjam shifted to a full air-conditioned showroom in Gandhinagar.
And on the 24th of Nov'97 the Ganjam story moved on to a
new stage in Infantry Road.
