bamboo weavers from the villages of Belgaum have
carried on this ancestral profession for many
years.
The
forests of Belgaum provide the bamboo that is
used in the making of beautiful handicraft. The

and thickness, a skill that takes years to master.
Nimble
fingers work to transform the strips into baskets
of various shapes and sizes.
Mats
and screens in the making. Stones hold the unfinished
screen taut.
The
colorful touch of paint is not really a must.
Most buyers prefer unpainted ones.
Items
ready for sale. They market their products not
only to households but also to multinational companies.
The baskets cost between Rs. 40 to 50. Screens
