A Flag is born
The 'Tiranga Pyaara' or the tricolour was adopted by the constituent assembly on 22nd July, 1947. The three colours signify sacrifice, purity and fertility. The 24 spokes
of the Ashoka Chakra symbolise progress.
The khadi cloth for the national flag is made at a special handloom centre at Garg in Gadag district in Karnataka. This is the only place in the country which makes it as per the specifications written in the constitution. The authentic flag is dyed in tricolour and sent to Khadi Bhandars all around the country.
Want to buy an authentic tricolour? Go to Avenue road and search for that special shop which sells flags of all sizes. Plastic flags, khadi flags, silk flags, stickers, patriotic posters - you can buy it all. Otherwise, there is always the Khadi Bhandar open throughout the year with special rebates for such occasions.
Tricolour anywhere and everywhere!
