Global Investors find Bangalore City a Potential Base

Bangalore remains a favourite destination for investors thanks to the infrastructure being put in place and the skilled manpower available here. This was evident in the keen interest shown in the Bangalore city at the recently-held annual global realtors meet - MIPIM - at Cannes."The delegates at the meet from the real estate and finance sectors evinced keen interest in investing here and were unanimous in their view that Bangalore is a regional commercial hub with huge potential", said Farook Mahmood, founder president, National Association of Realtors, India Chapter, a participant at the meet.

While IT infrastructure and skilled manpower was a major factor in making the Bangalore city a potential base, the civic infrastructure such as broader roads and Metro Rail also did their bit for the city. The state-of-the-art built commercial spaces - especially IT - was another major factor at the meet that drew attention, according to Farook.

"At most discussions and meetings at the event, investors and representatives of corporates alike said Bangalore was on top of the list when it comes to a base in the region. The cosmopolitan culture and weather apart, it is clear the Bangalore city as a conducive location for both knowledge and service industries holds potential", he says.

The projected growth rate of eight percent plus and the thrust on infrastructure are major plus points for India as an emerging economic powerhouse. The connectivity projects around the Bangalore city and upcoming social infrastructure are drawing more people to the Bangalorecity, adding to its human resource pool.

Earlier this month, at the Euro Mediterranean Forum 2011, the annual meet of FNAIM, the French National Real Estate Federation, held at Nice, similar sentiments were echoed.
