The Software exports from the state
touched Rs. 37,600 Crore ($ 8.3 Billion) for the Year 2005-2006
fiscal as against Rs.27,600 crore ($ 6.1 Billion) in FY05, recording
a growth of 36%.
The Projection for the current
fiscal are that IT exports will touch Rs.49,000 crore ($ 10.8 B),
keeping with the current growth momentum. The exports from Karnataka
constitutes around 37.6% of the Country's exports for FY06, which
is a shade higher than the previous year's figure. The FY06 also
saw 201 new companies getting approval and taking the total numbers
to 1,721 as against 1,520 in FY05, though only around 1,200 companies
are operational.
The
total projected investments for FY06 was Rs.2,761 crore while those
of the foreign companies stood at Rs.1,882 crore.
The STPI Bangalore Director B V
Naidu said "No company from Bangalore has moved out. In fact,
around 200 existing companies expanded their operations."
State IT Secretary M K Shankarlinge
Gowda said, "It demonstrates that Karnataka is the Leader and
Bangalore is the IT mascot".
In FY06, enterprise application
accounted for 57% of the exports while ITES/BPO constituted around
16% and US continued to be the main market having 61% share followed
by Europe at 24%.
Hardware has also recorded higher
growth than software business though from a small base.
The number of hardware companies
touched 51 in FY06 as against 44 in FY05, recording growth of 16%.
The exports of Electronics Hardware Technology (EHTP) companies
for FY06 stood at Rs.2,481 crore as against Rs.1,768 crore in FY05,
recording a growth of 40%.
